Mason Peatling Injury Update

Mason Peatling has undergone surgery to repair a fractured cheekbone, with his recovery expected to be four weeks.

Peatling sustained the injury in the second half of the Hawks home win against the Phoenix, following a clash of heads with teammate Todd Blanchfield.

The Hawks recruit saw a specialist in Sydney on Thursday, who determined surgery was the best option to have Peatling back on the court by early to mid-November.

Hawks General Manager Basketball Mat Campbell expects Peatling to make a speedy recovery.

“It’s an unfortunate start to Mason’s Hawks career, but we are encouraged by the four weeks’ timeline for his return,” said Campbell.

“Mason has added toughness and leadership to our young squad, and he will continue to be an influential voice for the group in the coming weeks.”

Biwali Bayles replaced Peatling against the JackJumpers and will travel to Adelaide as part of the main roster for Saturday’s match-up against Adelaide.
